Twisted Waters & Lemonade

Here are some of my favourite summer refreshments … pictures will follow later:

Strawberry-Mint Water

At the farm we have our own well and very good water so there is tap water all year round. I get sometimes bored with just drinking water. Following I give you some of my summer twists.

  • Fill a 2 liter (2 pint) jug with water
  • Add 5 frozen strawberries
  • 5 peppermint leaves
  • 5 lemon balm leaves
  • and a handful of ice cubes

I prefer to use a glass or heavy crystal jug—This will not only look pretty but is a really nice refreshment during these hazy crazy summer days

Lemon’n’Lime Water

  • Fill a 2 liter (2 pint) jug with water
  • 1/2 (organic or at least fairtrade) lemon
  • 1  (organic or at least fairtrade) lime
  • 1 handful ice cubes

You see I like my water very lemony. Squeeze the juice of the lemon into the water, cut the lime into thin slices and add to the water. Throw the ice cubes in and serve.

If you want to turn this into lemonade:

  • Use a 2liter Jug
  • 2 lemons (juice of)
  • Maple Sirup (same amount as the lemon juice)
  • stir thouroughly
  • Top up with 1,5l water and ice cubes

For the lime & maple sirup ration you may want to experiment a little. I don’t like lemonade if it is too sweet and family and friends agree that my ratio of 50:50 (Lemon-Juice:Maple Sirup) is the perfect mix. You may want to experiment a little with this.
